mPEAK was a collaboration between UCSD's Center for Mindfulness, the School of Medicine, and the coaches of the 2014 US Olympic BMX Cycling Team. The pilot research study investigated changes in neural processing after mindfulness training in elite athletes. The training has since been offered to the US Department of Homeland Security, Navy Special Warfare (SEALS), and several other Olympic teams.

Course Objectives

  • Develop greater focus and concentration

  • Tap into the power of “flow states” during performance events and everyday life

  • Learn to maximize the present while working toward goals

  • Practice responding wisely to stress 

  • Develop resilience and the ability to be with a wider range of emotionally difficult or physically painful experiences

  • Leverage personal strengths and stretching your personal edges without giving up or burning out

  • Recognize and shift from critical to compassionate inner self talk

  • Process and learn from inevitable mistakes and failures

Those who coach or lead others will learn the science of flow and how to prime themselves and their team for optimal performance. Whether your performance area is your professional, athletic or family life, this workshop provides an immersive and experiential opportunity to discover and redefine what is possible in your life. 
 

This live-online workshop will include:

  • 30 min. individual coaching intake session prior to workshop

  • Guided mindfulness meditations specific to performance (walking, sitting, standing, movement practices *modifications always available)

  • Modification options and ongoing personalized support from experienced mindfulness meditation teachers and coaches throughout the workshop

  • Coaching instruction for deepening reflection, practice application, and integrating mindfulness into performance areas and daily life long after the workshop ends

  • Small-group periods for discussion and social connection 

  • A dynamic and experiential learning environment with everything you would expect at our in-person workshops!

 

*This virtual workshop is highly experiential and will require your full participation.

Format: 3-day intensive w/six weeks of follow-up group practice & coaching or... 8-weekly sessions @ 2.5hrs/week 

Facilitators:

Brad Manuel is a Certified mPEAK Coach through UCSD's School of Medicine and Center for Mindfulness. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Utah, and he applies the latest in sport and positive psychology to his work with corporate and sport athletes. 

 

Monnica Manuel is a Trained mPEAK Coach through UCSD's School of Medicine and Center for Mindfulness and has more than 20 years of corporate leadership and coaching experience.

 

In her previous role as Senior Vice President of Operations she scaled sales operations through hyper-growth and IPO, to drive annual revenue from $300 million to over $1 billion in the space of three years, leading Recruiting, Licensing Services, Learning & Development, Quality Assurance, Workforce Management, Telephony, Strategy and Corporate Communications.
